Today, I just let my GPS do all the work. I drove to Sellwood, pressed the coffee cup icon and voila–Blue Kangaroo Coffee Roasters!B Rachel & Lindsay were wonderful baristas and apparently are well known and loved by those that come in–like any good coffee mavens, they know their customers by their drinks!
Roasting coffee for seven years, owners Cindy & Flo opened up the coffee shop just 2 years ago and apparently haven’t looked back. Each week they do small batch coffee roasting and have topped off their menu with over 16 roasts! If you don’t know coffee…….that’s a lot.B Check out their blends: Sundog, Sauvie Island, Sellwood Morning Blend….and more!
They serve two things on the menu that I have not yet seen (in all my coffee blogging days–which are going on about 90) and thus very excited to return to the Blue Kanga to try out.B
1.B The Cubano Shot.B B First of all, it already soundsB really cool. Second…never heard of it. Rachel brought me up to speed in double time. They fill the tamp with 1/2 espresso and then get this, add a layer of cinnamon and raw sugar…then cover with the rest of the espresso. THEN they pull the shot. WOW.B
2.B The second thing they are well known for–and perfect timing I might add–Portland Iced Tea. Nope, none of that tea bag in the sun stuff.B This is black tea and coffee brewed together and served over ice.B I will readily make myself available for that!
Their yummy treats are brought in by Fleur Des Lis Bakery (no website for them yet and still one of my favs!), ChainbridgeB Bakery (no link for them)B and teas are from Art of Tea.B Great job Cindy & Flo! I’ll look forward to coming back!
