Eastmoreland Garage Sale 2011

Eastmoreland Garage Sale

June 25th & 26th 2011

Can you feel it? Something big is in the air and it’s coming in less than T-minus two weeks! The epic 25th anniversary of the Eastmoreland Neighborhood garage sale is this weekend Saturday/Sunday June 26th & 27th!!B This neighborhood garage sale is so big….it’s earned the moniker of ‘The Northwest’s Biggest Garage Sale’….and they are serious. Where else can you go to over 140 homes in one day and find treasures galore? This is it! Here’s a cool map of the neighborhood too…

Rally the troops! Meet at one of the neighborhood coffee spots in Woodstock and get an early start on the other Portlanders that have a countdown to Saturday too! If you are prepared, you can make a meal out of this event! I’ve got a good friend with great taste who practically outfits her entire home at garage sales like this!B Here’s her battle plan already in place for this weekend….(Thank you Pami for sharing!!)
How to Have Garage Sale Success:
1.B B Arrive in East Moreland 30 minutes ahead of the 8am start time and get yourself a map. The map will show which homes are participating and a short concise list of the top items that will be for sale at each.
2.B Park in a neutral, central spot and bring those re-useableB grocery bags with sturdy straps. This will reduce the number ofB trips to your car and allow you to shop longer without lots of little plastic or paper bags. If you’ve got one of those cool 2-wheeled grocery carts–that would be perfect–no back strain!
3.B Make a list of the items that are most important to you. This will help you keep focused and not get side-tracked with other ‘must have’ itemsB that might pop up! Measure the area you want to put those items (bunk beds, kitchen island, chairs, couches etc.) so that you know the width and depth of the area you have to fit the item in.
4.B Be sure that your car is completely empty and include old sheets/blankets with which to wrap any furniture pieces.
5.B Come ‘hands free’ i.e. use a light handbag/backpack that allows you to keep your wallet and cell phone safe but not reliant on you putting something down (and maybe forgetting). Be sure to have plenty of 1’s, 5’s, 20’s and quarters. *Note–if you are purchasing many items at one home, be sure to pay for them all at once–and ask for a lower price when you do! 🙂
Add bottled water and a measuring tape to your list and you should be all set!! With this–I send you out–go forth! Enjoy the architecture, the homes, the landscaping and remember –always bargain!!
