The Weekly Grind: Portland’s Best Coffee Spots
I can think of fewB culinaryB ways to spend a Monday morning other than in a wonderful cosy environment, my yummy latte in one hand a fresh butter-laden croissant with fresh local strawberry jam slathered all over it.B Yes friends….I am at Petite Provence on NE Alberta St.
The French owners of Petite Provence first started their trio of Portland spotsB with La Petite Provence in the Lake Grove &B Upland Neighborhoods of B Lake Oswego. From there, they could hear the clamoring of us east siders saying ‘get thee over the river’…and so they opened their second location on Division aptly named Petite Provence.B The Alberta street cafe is not the most recent however, nope, when you go to The Dalles….you’ll find one there too. Who am I to question the whimsy of the French when it just means more great fare?
In Alberta, Jenna has created an atmosphere where PProvence really is the neighborhood bakery. And seriously–on a Monday at 10:40am the place was packed out! Their beans are roasted by Nossa Familia and everything else….they make there on the premises daily!
Petite Provence makes all their pastries on site daily starting at 4:30am!
All of their machines are ala Francaise (Oh I hope Madame Ott from high school french is not a follower of The Weekly Grind–is that even the right tense?)
They use as much local and organic as possible…committed to always using organic butter for their daily 150 croissants and 700 other pastries!
Chocolate croissant & Lemon turnover are their two hottest items
Local and involved locally–with street events, donations, school functions & business associations.
Come here for all meals and happy hour is 3-5pm M-F
Jenna is the manager at this location and she’s more than darling–she makes you feel like you are being welcomed into HER home. Wow–the food is great but it’s the people that really make a great spot pop! Please say hello to her for me when you stop by!
